About Our Church

The Congregational United Church of Christ has remained at the center of Brodhead’s worshiping community since the village was first incorporated in 1856. Church services that year were held in homes, and remained in homes or other suitable space until the church was able to construct its first building in 1861, located near the downtown area. After years of ministry in that building, the congregation received a very generous gift, enabling us to build the larger, more functional space we currently occupy on the southern skirt of the city. We are located on the corner of County T and 23rd Street on the southeast side of Brodhead.

Our present membership is over 150. We have a very energetic Sunday school program every other Sunday.

The Women’s Guild and Men’s Fellowship strive to raise funds for the church and its youth for camps and other activities and many hours of laughter and uplifting fellowship.

Our church leaders have been instrumental in forming several community projects: White Gift, Clothes Closet and the Community Gardens.

Our congregation has established a tradition of friendliness and openness to a wide variety of people. In our home you should know the joy that awaits you as part of God’s fellowship here on earth.

As members of the United Church of Christ, we join our sister churches of the UCC in our concern for the poor, the lonely, and the oppressed. That concern expresses itself through our congregation in active, vibrant ministries to school children through various collection drives; hosting funeral lunches so area families can grieve together; creating events for the family to encourage multi-generational experiences; and so much more.
